Can You Share Your Bank Benefits With Your Family? How Family Banking Works

Most people think of their bank account as a personal financial tool. But for qualified clients who have built a strong banking relationship, there is an opportunity to extend selected privileges beyond their households. This is how family banking works in practice, and why more Filipino account holders are exploring it as part of their broader financial planning.

What Does Family Banking Mean for Your Household?

How does family banking work? Family banking is not necessarily about putting everyone's money into one account. It is about creating a banking setup that recognizes the different financial needs within a household.

Consider a family where one person is building investments, another is managing household expenses, and parents or grandparents need convenient access to their accounts. Each person may have different financial priorities, but they can still benefit from a coordinated banking relationship. Family banking allows households to make better use of services and selected privileges across generations.

Does Family Banking Mean Opening One Account for Everyone?

Not necessarily. When people search for how to open a family bank account, they may be thinking about a joint account that several family members can access, or a shared pool of money. That is one possible arrangement, but it is not the only way families can bank together.

How family banking works depends on the bank and the program. Some arrangements involve joint accounts, while others allow eligible family members to receive selected benefits through an existing premium banking relationship.

For clients already enjoying premium banking for families, the latter can offer a practical way to extend the value of premium banking without requiring their family members to meet the same financial requirements.

How Family Banking Works at RCBC

RCBC offers this setup through Hexagon Club Family, an optional add-on available exclusively to qualified Hexagon Club Priority and Privilege members. It is the first program of its kind in the Philippine retail banking space.

Here is how it works: a primary member who meets the eligibility requirements can nominate up to four family members. Qualified relationships include spouses or partners, parents, grandparents, children, grandchildren, and siblings. Each nominated member gains access to a defined set of banking privileges tied to the primary member's Hexagon Club standing.

Who Qualifies to Enroll?

To subscribe to Hexagon Club Family, the primary account holder must be an eligible Hexagon Club Privilege or Hexagon Club Priority member. The program is an add-on, meaning the primary member's existing Hexagon Club benefits remain fully intact after enrollment.

Hexagon Privilege provides premium banking benefits for individual clients who maintain at least ?100,000 in total CASA, including priority queuing, special rates, waived banking fees, and lifestyle privileges.

For clients maintaining at least ?1 million in total CASA, Hexagon Priority provides a more elevated experience, including personalized financial support, a dedicated Relationship Manager, priority services, and additional lifestyle and financial benefits.

How to Get Started With Hexagon Family

There is no need to restructure existing accounts or transfer funds. Enrollment is an add-on to an established Hexagon Club membership, so setup is straightforward, and the transition is immediate. Here is what the process looks like.

1. Check your eligibility.

Hexagon Club Family is available to qualified Hexagon Club Privilege and Hexagon Club Priority members with at least PHP 500,000 across all of their Peso Checking and Savings Accounts. Confirm that you meet the eligibility requirements before proceeding.

2. Nominate your loved ones.

3. Fill out the paperwork.
